Start from the venue library
Find your venue, start your map from a cleaned floor plan with a suggested booth layout, and choose whether your own plans are shared.
The venue library holds floor plans of halls that shows have used before. If your venue is in it, you can start your map from its plan instead of uploading and tracing one yourself: the hall, its scale and its spaces are set up for you, and you can add a suggested booth layout.
Every plan in the library has been cleaned of the show it was first drawn for. There are no show names, logos, exhibitors, sponsors or prices on it, and Map D staff check each one before it appears.
Find your venue
Open your show's dashboard and select Venue library under Event links. Search by the venue's name or its city.
Each venue shows the years it was last used and how many shows used it. Select a venue to see its floor plans, and under What works here, what shows there usually did: their booth counts, the most common booth sizes and how wide the aisles were.
Start your map from a plan
Pick the plan
On the venue's page, pick the floor plan for the hall you booked. If the venue has more than one, the hall names tell them apart.
Choose the booths
Select Use this floor plan, then choose under Booths. With No booths, you draw booths yourself. A Suggested layout adds unsold booths blended from several organizers' past shows, numbered from 101, with sizes matched to your show's booth types.
Open the new map
A new map is added to your show, named after the venue, and opens in the map editor. Nothing is published until you publish it.
A suggested layout is offered only where at least two organizers and three shows used the hall, so it never copies one show's layout.
Check the plan before you sell booths
A map started from the library opens with a note naming the venue. Plans come from past shows, so before you open booth sales:
- Check the scale against one measurement you know, such as a wall length from your venue contract. See Set the scale.
- Confirm walls, columns and doors with your venue or decorator, in case the hall has changed.
- Set your booth prices. See Booth types.
If your venue isn't there
Select Request this venue after searching, and Map D will add it when it can. Meanwhile, start your map from the plan your venue sent you. See Open the map editor.
Plans and pricing
Anyone who can see a show can search the library and look at its plans. Starting a map from one is part of paid plans; on the free plan, Start from this venue's floor plan explains how to upgrade. See Free and standard plans.
Sharing your own floor plans
After your shows end, their halls can help other organizers at the same venue. Only a cleaned copy of the hall is shared, and your booth layout is only ever blended with other organizers', so no one gets yours.
Sharing is on unless your organization's owner turns it off: open your organization's settings, and under Venue library, turn off Share floor plans with the venue library. Plans made from your shows leave the library right away. Maps other organizers already started from them stay theirs, and you can turn sharing back on at any time. See Company profile and branding.
