Alerts when buyers can't sign in or pay
Where alerts about NOVI sign-in and card payments appear, who sees them, what each one means and how to fix it.
When something stops buyers from signing in or paying, an alert says so where you already look, so you hear about it before a buyer does. You don't have to open the setting to find out.
Where alerts appear
- On every page of the show, at the top, above the page title. That includes the Overview of Registration & Orders.
- On your organization's home page, under the welcome line. It lists every show that has an alert, with the show's name before each problem. Past shows and archived shows aren't listed.
One problem shows on its own. When there are more, the alert gives a count, such as 2 problems across 2 shows need attention, and lists the first three. Select Show all to see the rest.
A red alert is urgent: booth sales are open and buyers are being stopped right now. A yellow alert is a warning: sales haven't opened yet, or your NOVI site couldn't be reached. When an alert lists both kinds, each row says Urgent or Warning.
Who sees them
Alerts show only to people who can see the show's Registration & Orders, and only on shows that include Booth Sales. An Associate sees alerts only for the shows assigned to them.
If you manage Registration & Orders, each alert has a button that opens the exact setting that fixes it. If you can only view sales, the alert says that someone who manages Registration & Orders can fix it, and on the home page its button opens the show instead.
What each alert means
| Alert | What it means | Where to fix it |
|---|---|---|
| Members can't sign in with NOVI | A registration type asks buyers to sign in with NOVI, and NOVI refused the last check or a member's sign-in, or NOVI SSO is turned off. The alert gives the reason, for example a Secret key that no longer matches your NOVI SSO client. Buyers of that type can't buy until it's fixed. | Open NOVI SSO settings: Setup, Integrations, NOVI SSO. See Set up NOVI SSO. |
| Couldn't reach your NOVI site | The last check couldn't reach your NOVI site. Nothing has changed for your members yet. Check the NOVI URL, or check again later. | Open NOVI SSO settings, then Check sign-in setup. |
| QuickBooks is no longer authorized | QuickBooks Payments needs you to sign in to QuickBooks again. Online card payments fail until you do. | Reconnect QuickBooks: Setup, Checkout, Online payments. See Set up payments. |
| Buyers can't pay by card | Your card payment provider was switched off because it rejected the saved credentials or couldn't be reached, during a checkout or a connection test, and no other card provider is on. The alert names the provider. | Open payment settings: Setup, Checkout, Online payments. Update the credentials, then select Save & test connection. See Set up payments. |
An alert goes away by itself once the problem is fixed: when a check or a member's sign-in succeeds, when you save new settings, or when you reconnect. Event Checkup reports the same problems, under Booth Sales. See Get your show ready with Event Checkup.
