Merge booths

Turn booths that sit side by side into one booth, set its number and price, and unmerge it later.

Merging turns two or more booths that sit side by side into one booth, for example when an exhibitor buys booths 101 and 102 and wants one 20 x 10 ft space. You can merge booths yourself in the map editor at any time, and you can let exhibitors ask for it at checkout or from their portal.

Merge booths in the map editor

  1. Select the booths

Shift-click each booth, or drag a selection around them. The panel on the right shows how many you selected, for example 2 booths selected.

  2. Select Merge booths

Select Merge booths in that panel. If these booths can't be merged, the button is greyed out and the reason is shown under it.

  3. Check the new booth

A window such as Merge 2 booths shows the outline of the merged booth and its size. Set the Booth number, Booth Type and Price (below).

  4. Merge

Select Merge booths. The merge is saved right away.

If the booths are already on your published floor plan, the published floor plan shows the merged booth straight away. You don't need to publish again for the merge itself. Other changes in your draft still wait until you publish.

Which booths can be merged

  • From 2 to 8 booths at a time.
  • Rectangular booths only. Round booths and L-shaped booths can't be merged in.
  • All turned at the same angle, and none of them locked.
  • None of them already a merged booth. To merge a merged booth again, unmerge it first.
  • Side by side with no gaps and no overlaps, so that together they make one rectangle or one L-shape. A T, a U or a staggered row can't be merged.
  • All open (not sold and not assigned to an exhibitor), or all belonging to the same exhibitor. When some are sold and some are open, add the open booth to the exhibitor's order first, then merge.
  • None held in an open cart. Wait for the buyer to check out or for the cart to expire.

Number, booth type and price

FieldWhat it starts as
Booth numberA range such as 101-103 when the numbers run in order. Otherwise every number joined with hyphens, such as 101-102-201. It can't contain a comma.
Booth TypeThe booth type of the lowest-numbered booth.
PriceThe merged booths' prices added up. Clear it to use the booth type's price instead.

When the booths belong to an exhibitor, the window says so: the exhibitor keeps the merged booth, and their order and what they paid stay the same.

What happens to orders

Merging never changes an order's lines or amounts. Invoices still list the original booths and their prices. The order's Activity History shows an entry such as "Booths 101 and 102 merged into 101-102", and an unmerge adds one such as "Booth 101-102 unmerged into 101, 102".

Everywhere else the exhibitor's booth shows as the merged number, for example 101-102: on the floor plan, in the exhibitor directory and in their portal.

Unmerge a booth

Select a merged booth. The panel on the right has a Merged booth section, for example "Merged from booths 101, 102".

  1. Select Unmerge

Select Unmerge in the Merged booth section.
  2. Confirm

A window asks Unmerge booth 101-102? Confirm it. The original booths come back with their numbers, booth types and prices.

Orders and exhibitors follow the booths they were for. You can move or rotate a merged booth and still unmerge it. If you resized it, set it back to the size it had when it was merged first: the message tells you the size.

Split Booth isn't offered on a merged booth. Use Unmerge instead.

Version history

Just before each merge and each unmerge, Map D saves a version of the map. It is marked before booth merge in Version history. While a merge is in place, you can't restore a version from before it: unmerge the booth first, then restore. See Publish your floor plan.

Let exhibitors merge their booths

Exhibitors can merge only when you allow it. On Registration & Orders, open the Checkout tab and turn on Let exhibitors merge their booths under Booth merging. You choose whether you approve each request, and whether exhibitors can ask at checkout, from their portal, or both. See Checkout rules, fees and discounts.

Requests and every merge, including the ones you make in the map editor, are listed on the Booth merges tab. See Manage orders and payments.
