Set up two-factor authentication
Turn on an optional code from your phone, which apps work, and what to do if you lose your phone.
Two-factor authentication adds a 6-digit code from your phone to each sign-in, so your company's profile and orders stay safe even if someone learns your password. It is optional for exhibitor accounts: turn it on from Profile in the account menu. If your account also has organizer access to a show, Map D asks you to set it up when you sign in.
What you need
A smartphone with an authenticator app. Any standard app works. Map D suggests these, with links to download each one during setup:
- Google Authenticator
- Microsoft Authenticator
- Authy
- 1Password
Set it up
Start setup
Open Profile from the account menu and select Set up two-factor authentication. Map D shows the list of apps. Pick the one you installed and select to continue.
Scan the QR code
In your authenticator app, add a new account and scan the QR code on screen. Your app now shows a Map D code that changes every 30 seconds.
Enter the code
Type the current 6-digit code into Map D. Setup is complete and you are signed in.
From now on, after your password, open the app and type the code it shows. To stop using it, turn it off from Profile.
Troubleshooting
The code is not accepted
- Use the newest code. If it is about to change, wait for the next one.
- Check that the time on your phone is set automatically. Authenticator codes depend on the clock.
- Make sure you are reading the Map D entry in your app, not another account.
I got a new phone, or lost my phone
Without the app you cannot finish signing in. Contact your show organizer and ask them to request a two-factor reset from Map D. Once it is reset, sign in and set it up again on your new phone.
Several people share our exhibitor login
Two-factor authentication is tied to one phone, so shared logins do not work well. Ask your organizer to invite each person with their own email address.
