MapD integrations

Model Context Protocol

MapD provides a remote, read-only MCP endpoint at /mcp. MCP clients authenticate with OAuth 2.1, and every read is evaluated against the user’s current MapD roles and show assignments.

Connect an assistant

Sign in to MapD and open AI Assistants from your account menu first. Copy the connection endpoint shown there, then follow the instructions for your client. MapD supports OAuth dynamic client registration, so compatible assistants register themselves automatically before opening the MapD sign-in and consent screen.

Claude

Claude web and Desktop. Team and Enterprise owners must add the connector for their organization first.

  1. Open Customize → Connectors. Organization owners use Organization settings → Connectors.
  2. Choose Add, then Custom → Web (or Add custom connector on an individual plan).
  3. Name it MapD and paste your MapD MCP endpoint.
  4. Select Add. Claude registers itself automatically; no client ID or secret is required.
  5. Select Connect, sign in to MapD, and approve read-only access.
  6. In a chat, select + → Connectors and enable MapD for that conversation.

ChatGPT

Custom MCP apps require developer mode. Workspace availability and who may create or publish apps depend on your ChatGPT plan and admin settings.

  1. Ask a workspace admin to enable custom MCP connectors if developer mode is unavailable.
  2. Open Settings → Apps → Advanced settings and enable Developer mode.
  3. Choose Apps → Create from user or workspace settings.
  4. Name the app MapD, enter the MapD MCP endpoint, choose OAuth when prompted, then select Scan tools.
  5. MapD registers the app automatically using its callback URL; no client ID or secret is required.
  6. Complete the MapD sign-in, create the app, and select MapD from the tools menu in a new chat.

Confirm the connection

Try: “Using MapD, list the shows I can access.” Then ask for a sales summary or analytics for one show. If MapD reports an authorization error, your assistant is connected correctly but your current MapD role does not include that data.

Parameterized tools

Clients can list accessible organizations and shows, page or search show content and inventory, and request aggregate analytics, published floorplans, and sales summaries. Analytics and commercial data require their corresponding MapD permissions. Pages contain at most 100 records and responses are capped at 1 MiB. There are no write tools, general-purpose database queries, individual orders, or payment credentials.
